It's National Respiratory Therapists Week!

Raymond

Meet Raymond. He's a hospital hero.

Raymond has spent five years working at CHMC as a Respiratory Therapist and before that, was a student at the hospital. He says, “Everything I know about my career and healthcare is from here.” Respiratory therapists care for patients who have trouble breathing and continually balance the pressure of oxygenation to keep patients safe and healthy while on ventilators. If a patient comes to the hospital short of breath, they are the first ones to be called and in this time of COVID-19, their role has been critical and lifesaving.

Raymond and his team rely on one another during stressful times and work closely with staff in the Intensive Care Unit to care for COVID-19 patients. This teamwork has resulted in excellent patient outcomes at CHMC. To respond to the steep learning curve of treating a new virus, Raymond said that it has taken “going back to the basics of what we already know. We are on the frontier of discovering new treatments and I love the idea of constantly learning whatever I can to make me a better RT.”

We are very grateful to Raymond and all the Respiratory Therapists at CHMC!

Thank you to our Hope Street donors. They're heroes too!

Hope Street’s “remote school” is in full swing and providing up to 50 elementary, middle, and high school students each day with a safe and nurturing environment to complete their classes and schoolwork.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank three generous donors who have supported our remote school:
Envicom Corporation donated five Chromebooks to our students. Chromebooks donated by Envicom Corporation
Liz Quoc, a friend of CHMC’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Joe Kim, kindly donated three desks that will be distributed to families to use in their homes. Desks donated by Liz
Barry Norkin, owner of Craig Medical International, donated 20 desks which will be set up for students to use at Hope Street. Desks donated by Barry

Thank you for your donations! We are incredibly grateful to all of our donors who have supported Hope Street’s remote school by making in-kind and financial contributions. Because of you, we are able to help our students succeed in the “classroom” and beyond.
