California Hospital Medical Center

California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC), a non-profit community teaching hospital, has been serving the needs of central and downtown Los Angeles since 1887. As one of our city’s major birthing centers, delivering more that 5,000 infants each year, CHMC has long been considered a center of excellence in its work with pregnant women, infants, and children. CHMC is one of 41 hospitals in the Dignity Health network.

As a member of the Dignity Health network, California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) is defined by the mission of the larger hospital network, which supports and provides the basis for CHMC’s commitment to community service.  The mission of Dignity Health is to:

Deliver compassionate, high-quality, affordable health services

Serve and advocate for those who are poor and disenfranchised

Partner with others in the community to improve the quality of life

California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) is committed to making quality, cost-effective healthcare available to, and improving the overall health of, the multi-ethnic communities it serves by providing health and education which reflect the unique needs of these communities.
